Do Good December!

'Do Good December' is the theme of the Action For Happiness calendar this month - a great theme for advent and lots of ideas below...

The storms earlier this month caused extensive damage to buildings and power lines around the country and many people in Cumbria have only just got power back on in their homes. Lots of trees were severely damaged and some were completely uprooted.

We know how vital our trees are, with so many benefits. Next Spring, we are joining with St Bede's school and Lytham In Bloom to take part in tree planting to celebrate the queen's jubilee. The project is called The Queen's Green Canopy and will see thousands of trees planted around the country to form woodlands, hedgerows and copses which will benefit people, wildlife and our climate.

With just a week to go before we break up for christmas, it is a busy time. Try to remember to feed the birds, especially when the weather turns cold and frosty and the temperatures drop to around freezing. Many birds die through lack of food when it is cold and the ground is frozen.

When we return to school after christmas we will be having our Forest School shelter installed...hopefully just in time for the RSPB Big School Bird Watch.

Merry Christmas everyone, from Katy and Willow.
