Children's Mental Health Week - 'Growing Together'

This year's mental health week takes place next week and the theme is 'Growing Together'.

We have some special visitors coming to school next week. They will talk to us about positivity, the mental health benefits of nature and spending time outdoors, motivation during challenging times and the importance of helping each other and 'growing together'.

Champion boxer Scott Cardle will be one of our visitors.

Anne and Pia, nurses and champion (slightly crazy!) fundraisers will be chatting to some classes.

Reece Taylor will talk about everyday life with Cerebral Palsy, the challenges he faces and how he maintains a positive outlook.
Reece visits many schools and joins high schools for PSHE lessons too.

Harrison Ward, Fell-Foodie, will be coming from Ambleside to spend a day in The Nest talking about how his love of The Lake District and the outdoors has helped him to overcome anxiety and depression. He will be doing outdoor cooking demos too.
Harrison was on TV a few weeks ago, cooking for Mary Berry.

Greg Anderton of Leafy Lytham will be talking about the mental health benefits of gardening and growing. There will also be opportunities to take part in planting with Greg.

Ross Goodwin, local Judo coach will be doing Judo taster sessions. Promoting mental health through exercise and growing through teamwork.

Mr Lee, one of our parents, has very kindly volunteered his time to help with work in our woodland. He has also constructed a bug hotel in kit form, which he will be building in the woods with a small group of pupils.
Key Stage 1 will then have the opportunity to fill the hotel with lots of bug friendly items.

We are also starting to develop new wellbeing roles in school.

More on this after half term.

Our Forest School shelter is now complete and hopefully, if there are no strong winds, will be in use next week.

A huge thank you to the PTFA for financially supporting the installation of this amazing resource.

Check back after half term for lots of photos from our special week.

Some activities and speakers will be outside so please remember warm coats.
